Mr. Derrick Perdue is a middle school educator in Lexington, Tennessee. He earned Undergraduate degrees in 4-8 Middle School Education and Arts and Humanities from Freed-Hardeman University. Mr. Perdue loves education and is currently seeking his Masters degree in School Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University. When he finishes his Masters degree he plans to start working on his Doctoral degree. Education has always been an important part of Mr. Perdue's life. He believes that education is the key to the future. Mr. Perdue's educational goal in life is to be able to help as many people as possible understand the importance of education, and help those that he teaches become the best people, educationally and morally, that he possibly can.
Along with being an educator, Mr. Perdue is the youth minister at Juno Church of Christ in Lexington, Tennessee. He spends his time at Juno working with all age groups of children. In Mr. Perdue's ministry he seeks to help those he comes in contact with learn more about God as well as help those people become the best people that they can be.
In Mr. Perdue's free time he coaches both the girls and boys middle school basketball teams at the school in which he teaches. He really enjoys working with his teams. Mr. Perdue's coaching philosophy is very similar to his teaching philosophy. He believes that coaches should lead by example. He also believes that discipline is a key component on the basketball court as well as in the classroom. Mr. Perdue leads his teams by teaching them valuable life lessons as well as showing them how basketball can relate to real life situations. Coaching is Mr. Perdue's favorite hobbies and hopes to continue coaching throughout his teaching career.
Students are the center of Mr. Perdue's everyday activities and he hopes that he is able to lead them in such a way that will allow them to be successful members of society. Mr. Perdue believes that students should be the center of every educational decision made. After all, the whole purpose of education and coaching is to teach students life lessons as well as academic skills.
